SUBJECT: Letter of Appreciation (Dave Jones)

To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Pete Tabury, I am a MSgt (E-7) in the United States Air Force stationed at Ellsworth AFB, SD. Recently, my wife and I purchased a home in the Rapid City area and I would like to share with you my home buying experience.

In December 2009, my wife and I had moved from the dabbling stage of the home buying process and began to get serious about finding a Realtor to work with. We had been home owners approximately 6 years earlier in Connecticut, but that experience had left us with a sour taste in regards to the realtor. Back in Connecticut, the realtor we had was not very personable, made zero effort to follow up with us, and seemed to never have answers to our questions and no desire to obtain answers to our concerns. So after 6 months and viewing over 30 houses that never truly met our expectations, we dumped our agent, found our own home, and hired another agent to finish with the close.

Back to our recent experience. I don’t recall the exact date in December 2009, but I do clearly remember that it was snowing quite heavy and the road conditions were not great. My wife and I had plans regardless of the snow to attend listed open houses in the area and do our own showings while still trying to find a realtor. At the very first open house on our list, we met Dave Jones from Prudential Kahler Realtors. Upon meeting Dave for the first time, he seemed very personable and wanted to get to know us without immediately getting into the particulars of “Do we have an agent” or “Are you preapproved for a mortgage”. Honestly, I kept waiting for it to come out during our first meeting, but Dave just continued to answer our questions as we toured the open house as well as establish a rapport by just getting to know us. As as we were about to leave, I stopped and asked Dave for his information as I was still looking for a realtor and wanted to sit down and talk more details with him in the future in regards to having him represent us.

As we left, little did I realize at the time the impression he would make on us. As stated before, the weather and road conditions were not great and we had 4 other open houses on our “To Do” list. We figured that if Dave was out in those conditions showing his listed open house, that other agents would be doing the same. Sadly, after making a loop around Rapid City, we came to realize that Dave was the only person who held to their listed open house show times. The other thing that shocked me was that Dave’s business card reflected that he had been honored with the title “2009 Realtor of the Year”. I turned to my wife and said to her, “Do you realize that Dave was the Realtor of the Year last year and here four other realtors no-showed their open houses?”

Needless to say, the following week, I called Dave on the phone and asked him to represent us in our home buying process and I have to say that not one time have I looked back on the process and had any regret. Dave Jones and his associate (Joni) have gone to whatever lenghts it took to make the process comfortable and as smooth as possible. Always prompt, always professional and above and beyond whatever was expected out of him. As an example, after finding the house we wanted to purchase, my mortgage company had dropped the ball and notified Dave of a document they needed signed in order to complete the closing requirements. When Dave had called me on that Saturday in January, I was actually digging out from 4 foot snow drifts from a storm the night before. Hearing this, Dave didn’t even bother to ask for me to come to his office and sign the missing paperwork, instead he showed up at my house with paperwork in hand. Ok, so Dave didn’t grab the shovel and help me dig out, he is a great realtor, not Superman! LOL

For any military members looking for a Realtor, or anyone in general reading this letter, it is with sincere appreciation that I write this letter for Dave Jones at Prudential Kahler Realtors. You would be well served to have Dave as your Realtor and Prudential has one of the finest in the business. Should I ever have the need to sell in the future, you can rest assured that I will be right back to Dave and Prudential Kahler Realtors based on my previous experience.
